My HOF assignment C: journaling. I really enjoyed creating this layout and telling the story of our TN journey.

from taco bell to tennessee

journaling reads: When Jason brought up the idea of applying to a med school, out-of-state, I wasn’t that excited. He had already applied to a local university and I just had it in my head that that’s where he would go. All of our family lived in the area, we had great friends, a church we were very involved in, and I had a job at a publishing company that I loved. Why would we even think about moving away from all that? . . . Because God wanted us to.
Jason had always felt called to be a Physician Assistant, and now God was telling him where he needed to do that—600 miles away.
I wanted to be supportive of my husband, but I just wasn’t hearing God’s direction like he was—until one evening at a Taco Bell. While we enjoyed our tacos and Mountain Dew, I found myself telling Jason tat I was willing to go wherever God wanted us, even another state. Those words just came out of my mouth. God must have put them there, because I never would have said them on my own.
So, Jason applied to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, but soon received a letter saying that he had been put on their waiting list . . . What a relief this was to me. God must not have wanted us to move after all . . . But then one day, a few weeks later, Jason called me at work. “Honey, Trevecca called! They have a spot for me! I’m gonna be a PA!” . . . I don’t even remember what my response was . . . I hung up the phone and headed to a meeting.
At that meeting, my co-worker, John, read this passage of scripture:
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure everything out on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he is the one who will keep you on track.” —Proverbs 3:5-6 The message
To the surprise of my co-works, I burst into tears! I don’t think God could have spoken to me more clearly in that moment! I explained my tears to the others and John gave me the index card on which he had written that verse (I keep in on my refrigerator to this day).
When we made out move to Tennessee, just four weeks later, God blessed us in so many ways and I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed out 2 1/2 years there. Thank you God for bringing me out of my comfort zone and teaching me to trust you. Thank you for bringing me from Taco Bell to Tennessee.
