Some of my stongest memories of my Grammie took place in her kitchen. She enjoyed cooking for her family. It seemed like her kitchen always had fresh cookies, often molasses, and at least two pies cooling. I guess it makes sense, then that the “things” of hers that I am happiest to have are from her kitchen & dining room - the bowl she used to make bread, her serving platter, two of her small rose plates, and the turkey salt and pepper shakers. I don’t think there are any pictures of the platter in use, but I remember it holding huge turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. The bowl is in the cabinet behind her and the turkeys are on the shelves on both sides of the kitchen window. I have a lot of good memories of Grammie’s kitchen.
