Oh Kelly! I have no words... this is just beyond... as for the dress, I'd have to say the one on the right, just because I love green. So incredibly special that you used some of your mom's pieces on the lo. You are so incredibly talented!
Love this!! What a super creative page!! Love the story telling, too! As for the pick for fave dress: hard to say, all three are too cute but, the middle one makes me think of a dress I had when I was young(er). Soft cotton and a box pleated skirt. I loved that dress and was devastated when I grew too big for it. So, I'll go with that one...TFS
Girl! This is just too cute in way too many ways Your journaling is so fun to read! I like all the dresses. The fancy lace on the Left one , the fun summergirl feel in the middle and the pleated skirt and cute colors on the right. But I think the one on the left is my fav, just make me want to have a tea party! Luv this one! Defenitely one of my all time favs!
That is so beautiful, and such a nice way to show how much you love your mother. She must have been completely overwhelmed by this layout. I would frame it!
This is one of the best layouts I've ever seen. And what a wonderful story behind it; very personal, and thank you for sharing that with us. It really says a lot about how much you love your mother. I'm not one for the cutesy look, I really love the vintage. This is absolutely beautiful. And if I had to choose ONE dress, well, I couldn't. I want all three!
Wow...so creative, unique just fantastic in every way! I love how you used all your dies and the journalling is absolutley wonderful! I vote for left dress...it was hard to choose though :)
What a completely gorgeous and beautifully heartfelt lo - I hope you shared it with your mom - she will love it! I esp love the little dresses, and the wonderful journalling.
Creative idea - love the green dress and the dress form. Your mom will love this. (Vertigo is keeping me from sc.com but I'm trying to catch up today as I'm having a good morning. Glad I didn't miss this LO.)
Okay ... we have the Academy Awards, we have the Emmy Awards, we even have the Oscar's ... whatever would be the best of the B*E*S*T for a scrap book page ... you should win … and W*I*N big! This page has so much detail, love, and compassion. I fell in love with a woman I do not even know. Your journaling is precious, and the creativity, as I said should gain you the most prestigious award possible. This is by far one of my most favorite three pages of all time (on sb.com) bar none! And the winner goes to ... (drum roll) ... KellyCreats!!! … (audience at their feet screaming and clapping) … with her …“Dress Up’ … (still cheering) … scrap book page! (ten minutes later still cheering!) Yes, I think it is safe to say I like this page. =) BTW ... my vote is the left dress!
wow!!!!! this is amazing Kelly! adore those dresses on your mom head! lol... so creative Kelly! love your heritage pages! beautiful paper choice & love that flower! i have to get that die! awesome page! fave for me! ;0)
Your Mom sounds amazing and she is going to love this page. I think my favorite dress is the little green one I love all the little details. I can always feel how much love goes into each page you create and its really very special!
What a GORGEOUS LO!!! LOVE the darling wardrobe you created for your mom's picture, Kelly.....Your detail is scrum-diddly-umptious!!! I can only imagine how BEAUTIFUL this LO must be in person, because it is STUNNNING here!!!
This is truly fantastic and your journaling really brings your Mother's personality and makes me feel like I know her now. Do you mind sharing where you bought that manequin? I especially loved the "dresses" you made - very very creative!
I love this creative layout!! While all your dress creatiions are lovely, I'd have to vote for the one on the right for her. Since she was dismayed at wrinkles, I think she'd appreciate the crisp pleats in the skirt of that one! A very clever, wonderful layout! I'm glad you had fun with it and TFS!
Wow!! This is so creative and fun! I love how you dressed up your mom...the one on the right is definitely my favorite! Love the title work too...that banner is great! Great job Kelly!
I came across this vintage photo awhile ago in one of my mother's precious scrapbooks. When I showed the photo to her and asked some questions, she looked closely at it and exclaimed, " Oh no! Look at my wrinkled dress!" ...and thus, a layout was born :) I decided to create a page for my mother and "dress her up" in prettier outfits. I used the beautiful MME "Market Street" and "Madison Avenue" papers from the new "Lost & Found" collection. All the buttons, the pin (below photo) and white lace on left paper doll are from my mother's vintage collection. Thank you Hel for the felt scroll (behind dress form). The large scalloped flower was made with a Tim H. Sizzix die (Thank you Kim, my lss owner, who encouraged me to use that TH die!) Journalling reads: When my mom saw this picture of herself with her school mandolin orchestra, she said to me, "Oh no! Look at my wrinkled dress! How could my mother let me go to school looking like that?" She was dismayed, saddened and ashamed. You see, the little girl in the photo grew up into a beautiful woman who is meticulous about her appearance. At 83 years old, not a hair is out of place, lipstick is applied with precision and style rules the day. This little girl ironed her children's underwear. This little girl never wore white after Labour Day, and her pearls were real. So I decided to revise history a bit and give my mother a new wardrobe. Three pretty little dresses...for the farm girl with big city dreams. (BTW, the photo is from 1938 and my mom is 10 yrs old). Now, since my last page about my Dad was a tad depressing and caused a bit of a "cry-fest" I'd like to have a little fun with this layout. I'm curious which paper doll dress you like the best...so if you have the time in your comment, please vote for the "Left" or "Middle" or "Right" dress! (Note: These paper dolls were inspired by a lo by Ruth Davis in Somerset Memories mag Autumn 2010) Thanks for looking! Your comments are always a joy to read :)
