The title says it all. Zachary is truly a miracle. These pictures were taken shortly after he was born. It's hard to believe he was ever that small. He is a beautiful little boy, so full of life. I am still in awe of the boy he is and look forward to the man he will one day be. God has great things in store for Zack.

Journaling reads:

Michael’s death left my life and arms empty. Shouldn’t a 16 year-old boy live longer than his parents? It was difficult not being a mother anymore. I yearned for another child to fill the void, not to replace him, for no one could, but to be a mother again; to hold my own child and hear that little voice call me “Mommy”. After many months of praying we were blessed with your sister, Renae. She brought much happiness to our lives and again my heart and arms were filled with joy. She is truly a gift from God.

As my biological clock ticked away I still dreamed of having another son. After 15 months of infertility shots, many disappointments and literally giving up, my prayers were answered and I became pregnant with you. At 40, I was so afraid that something would go wrong. I knew I would never have this chance again. My worst fear became reality when you were born emergently two months early - one day, and 5 years later than the day your brother died.

My heart sank as I watched you lay there so helpless. I was terrified that I would lose you too and I almost couldn’t bear it. Your tiny body was covered with tubes and poked with needles as you struggled to stay alive. I prayed over you asking God to protect you and help you hold on to your little life. You were a champion! You surprised us all when you came off the oxygen in less than 24 hours. It was amazing to watch you grow stronger every day. It was so wonderful when we finally brought you home, 37 days old and just 3 lb. and 14 oz.

When I see you today I am still in awe of the once tiny baby that is now a strong little boy. Nothing brings me greater joy than to feel your hugs around my neck and here you say, “I love you Mommy”. You are truly my little miracle and I thank the Lord for you each and every day! (photos 6/00 & 10/05; journaling 3/06)
