I have always used the Cropper Hopper embellishment boxes for my ribbon storage. Unfortunately, they are not making 3 sizes of the boxes anymore. I found a company that makes a comparable sized box, and it worked perfectly for ribbons or crinkled seam binding. You can see all of the details in my post here:
