I scrapped this portrait of my father’s family for the Swirlydoos November Sketch Challenge.

I started by painting white gardenias and the leaves and edges of the black roses with Pewter Glimmer Glaze. When that was dry, I gave the edges of gardenias and the large Petaloo rose touches of silver Stickles. Next, I used the PP stamps to create a border around a piece of cardstock, distressed it, and glued it to a slightly darker piece. The top circle was created with my deco shell corner punch, following Lisa’s awesome tutorial.

Just about everything here is from the November Swirlydoos Simply Irresistible kit; the Prima vine was included in the May “La Vie en Rose” kit, the black roses are from the September “Mon Amour”.

There’s a bit of hidden journaling tucked under the circle identifying the people in this picture that was taken about 1940. My father is the young man third from the left.
