These are photos from my husband's childhood - I obviously didn't take them, as far as I know his mother would have taken most of them, and his aunt took at least one of them.

Sunday January 27 – Len & kids went to church. Rolstad’s barn burned down this morning (all day). Started at 8:30, I guess. Went to Grandpa B’s for a while.

Thursday February 14 - 9° - Kirk & Lee are home. Kirk has a cough & cold. Lee has a temperature yet. Carrie picked up their Valentines in school for them. Len had a meeting at the courthouse and picked up Carrie from piano lessons.

Monday February 18 – Jon Michael is born.

Monday February 25 - Very windy & -1° - The tractor on the manure spreader won’t start without the heat plugged in. Roger stopped in. Len had a township meeting tonight.

Sunday March 23 – About 5-6” of snow. We went to church to find out it was called off due to a train wreck with leaking ammonia east of town. Cindy was up in the afternoon. Jon was at Grandma’s while we went to supper at Pizza Factory after chores.

Monday April 21 – Very hot (93°) and windy. We got a call from the school nurse, Kirk had chipped a tooth, a permanent one too. Len helped take 3 beef to Maple Lake with Grandpa B.

Saturday June 28 – Thanks to lots of help (Roger, Larry, Dean & DeDe) we got about 1400 bales of hay up at Borscheid’s – 11 loads. We unloaded 8 of them. Just the marsh left now.

Friday August 15 – Len & Kirk went bean field de-weeding.

Thursday September 4 – Bad storm last night, a tornado in St Cloud. It took many trees down in Buffalo also, 1½” of rain here.

Friday October 10 – Very windy & cooler but pretty nice. I baked a cake for Kirk and unloaded some hay. We gave Kirk a watch this morning so he wore it to school. We had cake & ice cream for a few in the evening.

Friday October 17 – I took Kirk to the hospital by 7am. He had tubes put in his ears at 9 and came home at 2:30. Len & Grandpa B picked up a load of corn today. It was very windy again, up to 40 mph, and rained off & on. We left the cows in overnight.

Monday October 20 – Got our new puppy from Jewel’s.

Thursday November 4 – Craig Peterson had an accident at work yesterday, a block wall fell on him. He will be laid up for quite a while now.

Saturday November 15 – Everyone worked today! The kids helped outside with putting up the rest of the board fence by the house.

Saturday December 6 – Lee, Jon, Carrie, Grandma K, & I went to “Harvest of Hands” at church. Len & Kirk went to an auction by Everet Mainquist’s.

Sunday December 21 – Went to church & Sunday school in the morning and the Christmas program in the afternoon.

Thursday December 25 – About –10° again but warmed up a little all day. Len helped Grandpa B in the morning. We went there for dinner & gift opening. Scott & Muddie were up in the evening.

Saturday December 27 – Took Kirk in to buy a present for Corey Topel’s birthday party.
