Contest Entry 1 of 3 - this entry showcases my trip to Africa in the summer of 2000. The animal cutouts are my own photos.
<b>Journaling reads</b>:
My journey to Africa was definitely life changing! It was the first trip I ever made alone to a foreign country. I was scared to go, but had looked forward to this adventure for a lifetime! From the minute I landed in Nairobi, through all the safaris, I knew that I had come to a place that felt like home and that I would one day go back again. I journeyed there with a small group who quickly became good friends. Our journey began at Lake Nakuru and from there we went to the Massai Mara. Onward then to Tanzania, where we visited Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Oldulvai Gorge (home to the first archaeological evidence of man) and finally to the infamous Serengeti, where we saw our one and only leopard! The animals and birds were beautiful. We saw all the big five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. We saw hundreds more animals throughout our journey. One of the highlights was a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Mara. My love of nature and wildlife truly blossomed on this trip, as Africa had touched my soul. The photos that I took each remind me of particular moments that I will cherish for a lifetime. Since that trip, my photography skills have grown tremendously, and I cannot wait to return to capture the breath-taking beauty of Mother Earth’s homeland!
