Journaling: Journaling: When families begin to grow, it’s a little harder to get everyone together for some family time around the holidays. We started a new tradition about three years ago when Brittany and Colby married. They go to her parents’ house on Christmas Day, and Bobbie hosts her family on Christmas Eve, so we started having our family Christmas with them at our house on December 23. That date is also Mama and Daddy’s anniversary, so I like the fact that we’re together on that day. This year it would have been their 63rd anniversary. We never get together without plenty of food, and this year we had a smorgasbord of salads for dinner, sat around talking, and then opened presents. That was the highlight of the evening for Katie and Sam, who could hardly contain themselves. Another couple of traditions are taking a picture of the three cousins and trying to get a good shot of Katie and Sam in front of the Christmas tree. Happily, everyone cooperated this year, and I was pleased with the keepers. 12.23.10
