Oh, my!!! As a mom of two boys about this age, you have captured this time in their lives perfectly. Love the torn paper and the way you used your embellishments!
Your composition is incredible. The photo is evocative and I am sooooo glad you faced him in the page, facing his thoughts and the story. VERY EFFECTIVE!!! But my favorite is the way you create the note feel throughout the l/o with the sub-titles on the torn notebook paper. Awesome choice. You are HOT my friend!!!
How sweet, I'm sure he appreciates you keeping the note secret, but what an awesome idea for a page! And what a great picture!!! You ds reminds me of my youngest ds a lot!!!! Another great, great page!!! You have awesome contest entries!!!!!
My son wrote a note to my husband one day about what he needed to start school. Domenic brought it home to show me because it was so touching. I kept the note wanted to scrap it so one day he could see how he felt at this particular time in his life. Out of respect for my son however, I’m going to keep the note a secret. :)
Journaling reads:
“It was nearing the start of school and we were writing out our lists of what you needed to start the new year. This was the only thing you enjoyed about the start of school. School work has been tough for you, but with a lot of work, you have done well. So imagine my surprise when daddy brought home the note you wrote and left on his desk at work. It was entitled “things I need for school”, and you listed 4 things you felt you needed. The funny thing is, these things were not pencils and pens, but were intangible items. These were the things you felt you lacked. I know you possess these things already - daddy knows it, too - your teachers know it - now you, dear Matthew, need to know it, too.”
