Pictures of my first car being hauled off. Hidden journalling reads: "I always said I would drive my first car until the doors fell off. I was almost right. In the spring of 2005, I blew the head-gasket in my Saturn while driving from Wiesbaden to Grafenwoehr Germany on the autobahn. I guess that old 4-banger wasn’t meant for continuous speeds in excess of 100 mph. We looked around for an estimate to get it repaired, but it was going to cost over 2,500 euro – more than she was worth. So, we parked her in Matt’s garage until we could figure out what to do. I rented a car for the next 5 months until we got delivery of the Volvo. Between deployments, Zachary’s birth and geographic separation, it was more than a year later before we figured out what to do. We couldn’t PCS with a broken car, so we paid $75 to have her hauled off. for scraps. It was a sad day, marking the end of my last large, independent purchase from my single days. "
