Journaling Reads: It had been a long winter and although the late January day was warmer than most of what the weather had dealt to us lately, there was still a pervasive chill in the air as the children woke up to the "Zoo Day" that they had been looking forward to for a week. Mommy tried to warn them that they might be happier waiting for a warmer day, but they wouldn't hear of it. So off we went. After braving the elements for about an hour, the children meekly agreed that it might be best to take a break. Into the Aviary Building we went, and we couldn't have chosen better! The colorful, tropical birds juxtaposed with the North American owls and pheasants made for a refreshing hour of learning and laughing at their antics. - January, 2006 -
