Journaling:
At 5:00am, while on vacation in Naples, FL, a siren sounded over a microphone in the ceiling of our condo and a loud voice repeatedly made this announcement--
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY.
EVACUATE THE BUILDING.
DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR.
USE THE STAIRS.
We were on the 12th floor. (pic circled) My husband and I threw on warm-up suits, awoke my 88-year old mother, got her into a robe, grabbed our purses, and joined the exodus of adults carrying sleepy children. As we got to the stairs, an all-clear signal was given. Evidently a smoke alarm had gone off. The fire truck stayed around to make sure all was ok. Thank You, Lord, that there was no fire, only a false alarm. What a beginning to a week of sun and fun!
[PS. It happened again 3 days later at 4am; but this time we all stood in the doorway waiting...and thankfully it was another false alarm!]
