So, the set for many of the scenes in the original Star Wars movies was in Tunisia, specially in the south, were sand dunes reign the landscape. This place is specifically known as Onk Jemel. You need a 4x4 to get there. The set was left in place for tourism. This place was built to represent Lucas Skywalker's home town but it is difficult to spot in the movie since it was over saturated with computer images to enhance the futuristic effect.
