Very cool she got that for you! Mine smells hot sometimes too, but it is only a few years (I guess almost 12) old. I think I overworked it making diapers for dd. Glad yours goes through denim good--I usually break a needle when dealing with denim--even the ones that are for denim!

my brand new, but not so new sewing machine. My Grandma felt sorry for me that I didn't own one, so she bought me one at the thrift shop. I think this thing is as old as I am. LOL It smells when I use it (hot motor) but it sews through denim like a hot knife through butter. I love it.
