Wow Jenny! This is amazing. I am in awe of the design and each executed detail: the clock face & stitching on you; the transparent letters with the brads; the use of the 'lace' cs; the frame inserted through the heart and all the others. Just beautiful.. should be framed!
WOW this is awesome!!! What a cool lo and so many awesome details!! Love the clock in the title! Great example!! you did such a great job making us feel the time, the numbers and vellum titles are awesome! I love the stitching!
Wow, this is amazing and stunning. I can't imagine being married to someone in the military or going through that myself so I hope I never take for granted the people who go through that. THANK YOU SO MUCH to you and your husband!!!
Love this! Wish I knew about scrapbooking when my hubby was in the Navy (for 20 yrs) - I would have taken a lot more pics of him in uniform! Wonderful page!!
This is the lo I did as an example for the February Military and First Responders Challenge. The challenge for this month was to include the following 3 things on the layout: 1. Something Brown; 2. Something transparent/translucent; and 3. At least one arrow.
My lo has a thin brown mat around the pic, 2 brown photo corners and brown stitching. Vellum with words embossed and ghost letters which have been sanded. It also has 2 arrows, one on the spinner attached to the clock face in the "o" in "you" and one on top of the "u".
This is a picture of dh when he was away from home for several months. I used part of a cs "lace" sheet that was a bunch of numbers. As a border around the lo, I adhered some Sticky Stitches. I matted the pic on a pice of brown cs, then ran a piece of green cs through a crimper and then inked the edges and used it as a wider mat for the pic. I added some paper photo corners to 2 corners. I freehand cut the heart frame and adhered it to the matted pic and added a metal "xoxo" to the heart.
I embossed some white vellum with the words "hours" "days" "weeks", inked them with some distress ink and adhered them to the page and outlined them with a black marker to make them stand out.
I made the "You", by stamping the "Y" with a foam stamp and some distress ink onto the same cs as the photo mat. For the "o", I adhered a TH clockface sticker. For the "u", I used a bazzil stitching template and filled in using a paint brush and distress ink, I then stitched around each of the letters and cut out the title and distressed the edges. For the "Months", I used ghost letters and sanded the backs. I adhered some square brads, which I had distressed with alcohol ink and Slick Writers marker, I used foam adhesive to pop the word off the page. For the rest of the title, I stamped the words with distress ink, then traced with a white pen. The flower was made using quilting applique templates that had several sizes of a flower pattern. I used Army themed pp and traced the different sizes of patterns onto the pp, then cut each out with scissors, inked the edges, wet and crumpled them, spritzed them with different Glimmer Mists, etc., dried them with the heat gun, then adhered them together with a mini brad (first through a small white flower) and then crumpled the completed flower and adhered it to the page.
