This layout is a redo and I am much happier with it now! I love these pictures of my little guy devouring his first birthday cake. I used the new AM simple sweet line and thought the colors were perfect for a birthday page!

Journaling {in the pocket}
As your first birthday approached, I realized one of the fun things that would happen that day would be your first taste of birthday cake. I wanted to make the cake myself, so I signed up for a cake decorating class at the local craft store. After some thought and searching, I decided to make a cute miniature teddy bear cake. I found this special pan that allowed me to bake a cake that would stand upright and just the right size for a "smash cake." I was up late the night before your big day decorating this little bear cake. He got a little smooshed on the drive to the park. But, I don't think you minded.

When the big moment arrived to sing to you, I set the little bear cake on your highchair tray. You were curious about him. Cautiously, you took a little nibble . . . Yumm!! Up until that moment if your short life I vigilantly prevented you from eating sugar. But one taste of the yellow cake surrounded by chocolate frosting was all it took for you! The sugar overload had you physically excited. Your arms were shaking with excitement as you smashed and devoured your birthday cake. The guests at the party could not stop laughing at your reaction to tasting the birthday cake. I knew you would love it . . . and you did!
