Journaling: Our second field trip was to the Raney House, a Greek Revival mansion built in 1838 by the mayor of Apalachicola. The city was the third largest cotton port on the Gulf Coast before the Civil War. Members of the family lived in the house until 1914, and the city purchased the home in 1973. 08.31.10
