this is awesome; it's too bad you can't see the stories underneath. what a great idea, though! it really captures the emotion. these are the kinds of pages that tug at our heart-strings.
what a very special gift you could have ever given him. Not only are you telling him what he meant to you but you also put your heart and soul into this layout. I am very impressed and thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you very much for sharing this idea! I have an Uncle who never had any children, yet who has been like a Dad to all of his neices and nephews...he has been an inspiration to all of us. We are planning to give him a "Tribute to Our Uncle" Album for Christmas this year. We live all over the United States, so this will be something we can all contribute to. I plan to send each brother, sister, cousin, etc. a card to write their tribute on...then I will compile them in this format for the beginning of the album. It's going to be great! Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!
No other word can express your layouts other than "AMAZING!" Your work is just absolutely gorgeous. I did have to scraplift this one (made a few changes to adapt it for my needs), lost my dad 4 yrs. ago when I was 13, so perfect way to catch just a few of his memorable phrases. Also did one for my mom. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this and giving me the opportunity to get to see it. I always look forward to seeing your layouts! Have a great holiday season!
Thank you everyone. Dawn, my Dad was very touched. He saw it via scan (e-mail) the first time and called me, saying with a crackly voice, "You sure know how to get a guy choked up". It made my day to know that he appreciated the layout and all the little things I remember from growing up.
This layout is featured in Rebecca Sower's article in this month's (Sept.) CK. The editor at CK suggested I post it to share all the stories "hidden" in the cards -- she said she would've like to have shown more of the stories but there just wasn't room. Anyway, I LOVE this layout -- it means SO much to me and it put a lump in my throat when my Dad saw it and read it with tears in his eyes...something he doesn't do often. This is one of my favorite layouts ever. Thank you for looking.:)
