Journaling: On January 1, we cheered the Seminoles to victory over Virginia Tech at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville. We did some home improvements early in 2002 by finishing our screen porch and having the house painted. Our family genealogist, Marc made a trip to Pennsylvania to interview members of the family and then shared his findings with Mr. and Mrs. Hoenstine. Mr. Hoenstine loved watching the video and reminiscing about relatives he hadn’t seen in some time. Liz Art was all the rage in Orlando in February when wildly decorated lizards began showing up all over town. It was a fundraising venture for the city, and local businesses “adopted” lizards and paid artists to “dress” them in all sorts of outfits. Then they were auctioned off, never to be seen again. Before they disappeared, Don and I took a field trip around the city to photograph them.

Family celebrations in our family usually mean getting together for dinner whether it’s at a restaurant or at home. We went to Spoodles Restaurant for Marc’s 29th birthday. Easter dinner was at Mama’s with Butch, Bobbie, and Colby. We gathered at Cedar River Restaurant for Mother’s Day in May. Later that month, Marc and Matthew got together with Anita Fletcher, our former neighbor, and she took a picture of the five of us on the back porch.
