Picture yourself in a boat on a river, With tangerine trees and marmalade skies Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, A girl with kaleidoscope eyes. Cellophane flowers of yellow and green, Towering over your head, Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes but she's gone...
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds High...
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain, Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies, Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers That grow so incredibly high Newspaper taxis appear on the shore Waiting to take you away Climb in the back with your head in the clouds and your gone...
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds High...
Picture yourself on a train in a station With plasticene porters with looking-glass ties Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile The girl with kaleidoscope eyes Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds High...
- The Beatles
The lyrics to this song, I have known since I was maybe 5 years old. My mom is a huge Beatles fan and we always listened to her vinyls during the day while she cleaned and I played. I always loved "Lucy in the Sky", and I knew the words to lots of their other songs, but this one was my favorite. And it still is. It holds different meaning for me than the "supposed" intended meaning that it has, since I was a child when I first heard the song it captures the innocence of my own youth.
