This is the second page of a two page LO about the first time my shelties were on sheep. The title is made from french knots done on plastic canvas and then coffee-dyed to mimic the sheeps' wool. The grid pattern in the photo mats and in the metal "fencing" mimic the real fencing that surrounded the pen. The background paper is a 12x12 print of a pastoral scene with hundreds of sheep, printed at 50% transparency.

Journaling:Flash was next and while he didn't work nearly as closely as RUsty did, he too, exhibited wonderful instinct and speed. I watched his big powerful muscles flex and quiver too, just like Rusty's. After negotiating a settlement with a wayward sheep, he ran around to the back of the flock and in his own inexperienced way, drove them directly toward me. Team work in action in the searing heat of summer in California's Central Valley.

The tests were over before we knew it and both Rusty and Flash had earned a leg toward their American Herding Breed Association (AHBA) Herding Capability Tested (HCT) title. I was one proud Sheltie Mom as we packed up for the drive home with our honest-to-goodness herding dogs snoozing in their crates, exhausted from the experience. I can only assume they dreamt of the fun they had, of the WOOLIES, and of their destiny fulfilled.

Thought bubbles:
Flash: Listen EWE! Get your butt movin'!!! You're not dealin' with just any ol' herding dog. I'm FLASH -- biggest baddest Shetland Sheepdog in the West!!!!

Ewe: Whoa youngin'!!! This is only your first time on sheep. Now, tell me, exactly what is it you'd like me to do?

Flash: DON"T MADE ME LOOKK BAD!!!!! MOVE WITH THE OTHER SHEEP NOW!!!! DARN IT ALL!!!!!

Ewe: Why of course, dear. All you had to do was ask.
