Out of Hay

I try to figure down to the last bale how many rounds I'll use each winter. My hay guy lives an hour and a half from my house, so I try to get a full load when I go. The bales are 5x6 bales - HUGE big - and I can only get three on my 22' gooseneck trailer.

I'm out today. Which isn't really a problem, except there's no reason to go all the way to Pawnee to get just ONE bale of hay. And I don't NEED three. The grass is coming on green, and it'll only be a couple of weeks before the horses abandon eating hay altogether in favor of the pasture grass.

So - here I am. Stuck. I have to feed hay for the next couple of weeks. Which means ONE round bale or feeding off square bales. Rounds are cheaper - unless you have to hunt to find them, and I don't have a local source for the kind of quality my horses expect.

:sigh: Looks like we're going to be feeding more expensive hay for a couple of weeks. Come on, grass. GROW!
