3-9-11...A LUCKY ditch find!! Folklore/legend has it that a horseshoe is a symbol of good luck. However, a shoe that is thrown from the horse's hoof will have no luck but a shoe carefully removed by a farrier/blacksmith will always be full of luck. A horseshoe hanging above your front door is said to bring good luck too but there is some discussion on how the shoe should be hung. Some believe placing the heel up [open end] will catch the luck and store it in the shoe to be used as needed. Others believe you should hang it with the heel down so the good luck will land on the people around it. A blacksmith hangs a shoe heel down so that the luck of the shoe will pour out over his forge. So, now I don't know which way to hang this one, guess I'll have to pick a position and hope I'm LUCKY. [P3092859]
