I have been looking through the military LO's today to get inspiration to start one for my DH and I have to say yours is one of the best I have seen. Very nice!
This is awesome layout. My dad started his 30 year military carrer with WW2, I am looking for inspiration for a book for him. Hope I do half this well.
 Thanks for all the great comments! I was fortunate that my aunt had saved all the letters Dad sent her, and that my cousin sent them to me. This is only the second 12x12 layout I have done, definitely more complex than the first. It took lots of trial and error to find the right size for the letter and envelopes.
love this layout! I love how you put a picture of the medals and the names of them underneath...are those actual letters (or copies of them) on there? such a nice personal touch that you had those and the map avaliable that you could use! You should be proud!
WOW! Not wuite 4 years and he had been to all those places. And what a great picture!! The pictures from way back are so romantic dont you think? Great page PeppermintPatty!
The journaling reads: Dad sent this map to Grandma. On it he marked “his travels while in service.” He enlisted on 12/27/1944 and first went to Great Lakes Naval Training Center, IL. His next assignments were Norman, OK; Shoemaker, CA; USS Sanders; and USS LST 605. He was then transferred to the USS Avery Island, where he participated in Operation Crossroads in the Bikini Islands. He then was assigned to Washington, DC, where he met and married Mom. He received an Honorable Discharge on 2/5/1948, and the family headed home to Nebraska.
