My Great Grandmother passed away a couple of years ago. The hidden tag contains a note from grandma that she wrote on the back of that picture. I scanned it in and printed it out so I'd have her handwriting. The journaling is something that I wrote and read at her funeral. It reads:

Most people are not lucky enough to say they knew their great grandmothers. I am blessed to say I knew her for the first 24 years of my life. Over the last few weeks I have been talking with friends about grandmothers and what comes to mind when we think of them. Oddly enough thereseemed to be several things that were always associated with our grandmothers. I would like to share with you some of my memories in hopes that it may bring back memories of your own loved ones, because once they are gone it is all we have. Wehn I think of Grandma, I think of a tire swing and picking blackberries on the farm. I think of always knowing where I can find a freezer fll of ice cream and a candy dish full of orange slices. I think of an organ bench full of sheet music that I so desperately wanted to play. i think of chicken pox. Grandma was the one that wouldn't let me scratch. I think of the chocolate cream pie that she made especially for me on thanksgiving and christmas becuase I didnt like any other kind. I think of a heart full of love and pride even when I accomplished a small task. And most recently I think of the happiness in grandmas eyes when she found out she is going to be a great great grandma. I know she will never get to hold him in her arms, but i know in my heart she will be looking down on him from heaven with the same love and pride she had for me all these years. These are the things that I will tell my children about the great grandma that was truly a great grandma.
