The redbuds always bloom on my mother's birthday, but this year, they were about a week early. I always call her when they bloom, and this year, when I called, I said, "I know today is not your birthday, but the redbuds are blooming so happy birthday anyway." We both got a big laugh out of it.

My daughter took this picture when we went trail riding the first Saturday she was home on leave. I told her that I planned to get some pictures of the redbuds, and she offered to take them. I didn't know she planned this photograph until I downloaded them from the camera. She managed to get me and Charlie and the redbud tree all in the same frame. I love this photo - I think it will be one of my very favorites in years to come.

This is my first layout with my April Swirlydoos kit, and once again, I have to say that the kit is just incredible. The primary line is the Bo-Bunny Gabrielle, but there's a couple of other papers in there that match up with the soft pastels just beautifully.

I'm using this layout primarily for my Project 365 Album, but it fits a couple of other challenges as well.

Everything you see is from a Swirlydoos kit with the exception of the two chipboard flourishes. Those are from the April Chippie Challenge, supplied by 3tailscraft. I misted them with Sweet Clover Glimmer mist by Tattered Angels.

I used my magnetic poetry from the AGC challenge for the journaling - printed and then painted with a watered down metallic gold acrylic paint to give it some shine. I painted the chipboard title letters and touched the flower edges with the same gold paint. I used Patina Stickles on the title letters and the butterflies, and I used glossy accents to create a little enameled look on the butterfly bodies.

I cut around the edges of the two brown butterflies with my craft knife (mine is a finger knife by Fiskers, and I LOVE it). The purple dogwood blossoms are the last of my Swirlydoos kit from LAST APRIL. I was digging around for embellishments and I put these on the paper and was surprised how great they looked so I used them! They really bring out the pink blossoms of the red dogwood in the photo.

The little calendar is a scan of a package of Jenni Bowlin calendar tags I got a long time ago. I'm using the same calendar on every page of my Project 365 Album.

Thanks for taking a peek and if you've gotten this far, thanks for listening to me ramble on. I appreciate you!
