Jake was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was three years old. He was in the ER, gravely ill, and we nearly lost him. He had to have shots and finger pricks 12 - 16 times a day and he just couldn't understand what was happening to him.
This is something that effects his daily life, and there is no cure, no growing out of it. It is not due to weight or lifestyle, and he is completely insulin dependent. He is holding his Insulin Pump in the picture. Grey and Red are the colors of Type 1 Diabetes awareness.
