I LOVE your LO, but I hate your birds. LOL!! I'm not sure if I have cowbirds or black birds, but I chase them off. They scare away the Cardinals. And they arrive in packs, or herds. LOL!
Your title is genius. I didn't know there was such a thing as cowbirds. Terrific photo. That really is a herd of them! Your bird pole and feeder are so cute. You did a great job hand-drawing those. I always enjoy reading your journaling. You do the best job with documenting through both words and pics. A fave for me.
Stunning LO Betty!! Love the coordinating colors and the use of white space w/that bg paper really makes it stand out! The journaling beside the bird feeder is so wonderful, great details and this is a fave for me!
What a cute page! I adore those papers and love the design too. I think the stamping on the clouds was a perfect touch to add just a pinch more color. Love how you made the birdhouse to match yours in the photo. Very cute! You did such a great job on this. Love the journaling too. Favorite!
I would never on my wildest day put those two papers together on one layout, and I love it. The colors are great, the little birdie embellies are wonderful.
I love this...it is so crisp and fresh and the photo's are fabulous! Love the little clouds and the cute little tag! Very interesting story about them being "fostered"! Beautifully done!
This is so cool! I love the clouds & the " a little bird told me " tag!! What great details! I live in "corn country" & those darn birds are all over.. they look much better on your lo!!! Tfs:)
This is too cute! Love the papers you used! And the design is fabulous!! The title work is adorable- love the stamping! Love the birdfeeder you made, too- fantastic work!!
What an absolutely delightful layout! Love the bird feeder and wonderful clouds you did. My feeders all look like this every year at this time...cardinals, etc. cannot feed for these pesky rascals.
Oh wow, love your bird feeders and so great that these cowbirds are making such great use of them. Interesting to see other peoles wildlife....all so different to ours!! Love the pps, the design and most of all your journaling :)
I love this Betty...I also spend a fortune every month buying seeds for the wild birds and they totally empty two feeders every day...this is beautiful!! :)
Journaling reads: "What a surprise to see this 'herd of brown-headed cowbirds' at our feeders on our back deck. Normally, we only see one or two along with all the other birds. In this photo you can see thirteen of them, and there were more sitting on the rail, waiting their turn. One interesting fact about cowbirds -- they lay their eggs in other birds' nests and leave them to be raised by 'foster parents'." March 14, 2011
Note: The males are the ones with black bodies and brown heads - the duller brownish-greys are the females.
pps are Basic Grey. The clouds were hand cut and stamped with a Prima stamp and CTMH ink. The larger circles and 'rickrack' were cut with a Coluzzle. the scallops were made by punching small circles and cutting them in half. The birds on a wire are a Tim Holtz stamp. The bird pole and feeder were drawn and cut by hand. I used a piece of clear plastic to make the feeder, then colored in the seed, pole and edges on the back side. The birds on the feeder are a stamp by Hero Arts (A Kiss for the Sun), which I stamped, colored with pencils and cut out. I cut out the top and bottom for the feed and highlighted it with a metallic pen. The foliage stamps are by Fiskars (Heidi Grace - Cherrywood Lane). "A" and "of" are done with American Crafts rubons. "herd" and "birds" were cut on the Cuttlebug using Quik Kutz fonts (thanks again, Susan (sgoetter) for giving me those - I LOVE THEM!!!). Then I added some buttons and ribbon. The overall layout design was based on a PageMaps sketch. Thanks so much for looking!!!
