This is one of my home bred babies. She's a nine year old that has been away on a riding lease for the past 8 months. I picked her up and brought her home today.
I'd call her an American Warmblood. Her mother was by a Dutch Warmblood stallion out of a Jockey Club thoroughbred mare. Her father is an appaloosa stallion named Spendthrift, who still shows on the national ApHC circuit, who has appaloosa, quarter horse, and throughbreds all three in his pedigree. She's actually related to Secretariat in her not too terribly distant family tree.
She's a lovely mare to ride, and she's got a great personality. She can get a little silly when she gets excited, and today, coming home and seeing all of her old friends, she got a little wound up.
But it makes for a pretty great picture.
