Journaling:
I've heard that is what an asthma attack is like..."like being a fish out of water." For a mom watching her baby boy struggling to breathe, it's terrifying. You had your first attack just before your first birthday. You had been dealing with a cough for a couple months, but on this day you woke up from your nap sounding awful. I thought maybe it was congestion, but it sounded different. When I realized you wouldn't eat or drink I knew I needed to take you to the clinic. Daddy and Moya were at Papa and Grandma Tobey's for the day, so it was just you and I. At the clinic they quickly got us into an ambulance and took us to the Devos Children's Hospital. I clearly had no idea how serious this was. We were in the ER most of the day before they decided to admit you. Your breathing wasn't coming back as quickly as it should. We ended up spending the night at the hospital. The medicine they were giving you had you so wound up that you didn't settle down until 3 a.m. We were so tired and so glad to go home the next day.
