Saga episode #13 - Lucky 13 I guess. Lucky for one lonely little Cat that is. StayBehind Cat was introduced several episodes ago as the chickenhearted younger cat sibling to Escape Kitty. I call him my butterfly-daydreamer. He is so content to sit in the grass and watch butterflies and bumblebees whizz past his head. Doesn't have a desire to wander from home.

But he has been missing his bossy britches counterpart Kitty. She makes life exciting for him by telling him this and that and making him think he is an otherwise brave and adventurous Cat. He is not. In fact, she has the ability to make anyone believe something that is not quite true. I believe I am in charge but I am not.

Word on the street is that Escape Kitty is on her way home from Alaska - she has been traveling with her Standard Poodle friend, Chena, dog of Maggi43. StayBehind Cat is keeping watch for the homecomming.

He has not released his consent form authorizing me to post his face on the internet so at this point, I need to keep his whiskers in the shadows. We are in negotiations and am hopeful that all paperwork will be completed soon.

As for the Layout, it was created for a challenge at Swirlydoos where a room in my house is to be photographed and used as inspiration. My room has contrasty feel to it but I was struck one day with the sunlight pouring in and just lighting up the window and StayBehind Cat. It was like the room was glowing. So that was my inspiration - a window like feel. I have a lot of gold and black, dark chocolate in the room. I also drew some inspiration from the hanging drapes and the gold picture frame in the top right corner, and the orange/gold flowers in the left.

My use of the reverse canvas was inspired by Luv.My.Babiez,Natasha Naranjo Aguirre. I know many of you have also used the canvas reversed technique before, but Natasha is my inspiration for this particular project. It was in the reduced bin at J's so I bought it for $2.97. OK - quite possibly the "just can't pass a bargain by" price of $2.97 may have been my real inspiration. Sorry Natasha! :)

I painted the edges black, then took my molding paste mixed with black paint and used the Prima Mask as a stencil. Went around the edges to make it look ornate - but primarily to cover the canvas staples holding the canvas onto the wood frame. After it dried, I took some goldleaf wax paste and rubbed it over the molding paste to make it resemble my ornate gold antique frames I have around the room. It was soooo much fun.

You cannot see my drapes completely in my room, but they are cinched at the top by an ornate thingy - technical term is "drape holder thingy". I used a metal Christmas ornament I bought at 90% off (yippee) and just painted it , golf-leafed it and dangled some beads from these to resemble my drape tie backs.

The Dusty Attic ornate frame was from Mandy, CraftySprinkles. thanks.

If you want to catch-up on Escape Kitty, visit my gallery for her other antics. If you want Kitty to visit you, just let me know by contacting me. I think she now has wanderlust. You can also follow along in her challenge this month "Escape Kitty - Friends and Family". Be sure to visit Maggi43's amazing gallery as well because she has some Escape Kitty/Chena creations of her own.

Kitty will not be home for too long because another adventure awaits - complete with tons of photoshop magic. You just won't believe your eyes! :)
