This is the cover for the book of me I'm making for the NSD 2011 "I'm Important Too" challenge. My book has no particular theme, just a bunch of pages about things I like, why I like them, how I feel about them. I adhered denim-patterned paper to the board cover of a 6"x8" mini-album that came with a travel kit. To that I glued a pocket cut from a discarded pair of jeans, and with the string tucked in the pocket, I added a tag with the lyrics to "Bookends" by Simon and Garfunkel, which is kind of my scrapbooking mantra. For the tag, I adhered the blue paper to some cardboard from a paper pack, die cut them together (using the Ellison Designs Thick Cuts "Tags, Scalloped" die), and hand-wrote the lyrics on a smaller piece and adhered that to the heavy tag.
I have not yet put it back on the wire binding of the mini-album as I am waiting for the glue to dry behind the pocket.
To appear on the first page of the album will be the slogan "This is the year I turn 30. This album is a picture of me in my 30th year." It's as close to a unified theme as the album will get.
