Well, it's been quite awhile since I've posted a new layout. Had to oil the hinges on my gallery doors and dust the cobwebs out of the corners...ha ha! I wanted to upload this "spring" layout before summer arrives :) I've seen so many gorgeous pages here using this G45 collection "Once Upon a Springtime" and was inspired by them all. As soon as I saw these papers I thought of creating a forest scene (I have a "thing" for trees) and knew these photos of Mila would be perfect. This is the first time I've used professional photos..and these are almost 10 years old! I actually designed this 2-pager as a class in my lss, the main technique being working with canvas. Jennifer McGuire did a fantastic tutorial video with canvas and inks last year, and that's how I got the idea for the tree. Breaking news....you can find a tutorial for this canvas tree at my new blog www.kellycreates.blogspot.com. Yes, I've joined the blogging world and hope you can come by and visit me there sometimes :) A few details about this layout design: the "grass" along the bottom is made with two MS punches; all the flowers are cut with the TH Tattered flowers die; all the tree leaves are cut with a Sizzix die and my Big Shot: the darker leaves on the tree are misted with Maya Mist; the leaves in the bushes are cut from a transparency(with a Sizzix die and then coloured with TA Glimmer Glam and Glaze. The window on the left page I designed myself with shimmery teal cardstock. I added some sparkle to all the fairy wings with iridescent Stickles. It killed me not to add journalling, but this turned out to be one of those "pretty" pages is a pleasure to design because of the beauty of the papers. The title is meaningful because Mila, our youngest, is still innocent with a vivid imagination who believes in fairies....so she is "Our Fairytale." Thanks, everyone, for all your comments, and I wish my "Fairy Godmother" would put more hours into my day so I could spend more time here in the galleries :)
