Wow, breathtaking lo. The misting and the pretty fern embelishments add a rustic, country charm to your page. What a beautiful, heartfelt story you shared with us. I do hope you can find the missing pieces to this story one day.
Wonderful heritage page. Barley, buckwheat, plums, pears, apples. . . all wonderful whole foods. That's why your great grandmother lived to be 100, you know! You have a beautiful gallery.
Stunning page with your amazing layering, masking and misting!!!
You are doing a wonderful job of recounting your heritage; I hope that you will someday be able to find some of your "lost" relatives...
Your journaling is very touching. My family immigrated from Lithuania before the WW's broke out. What a horrible time in history. And unbelievably horrible for those who lived in those contries that suffered the most. Touching journalin, beautifully done. I hope that one day you can track your missing family. Perhaps one day you can travel there and look for existing family members. That's what my brother did. Beautiful page, beautiful tribute to your family and their home.
This is awesome, we are fortunate we have alot of journaling done by George's father, but his mother from Poland, we have some letters and need to transcribe but writing is difficult to read. This is very interesting, I will be anxious to learn more.
such a gorgeous heritage lo. a beautiful tribute to lost family members. I hope someday you will be able to trace their story back and fill in more of your family history. TFS.

What a story.... A hard but simple life when the photo was taken. Such traggic things to come for them. Your LO is really beautiful. A wonderful preservation of the memory.
Gorgeous layout...love the colours and design and the photo is an absolute treasure for you to have!! I loved reading the story behind it and I hope too that one day you can find out more information! TFS
Was just having a discussion about how people today would have no idea what it would be like to farm and live a harsh life. You are so lucky to know so much about what they raised. Cannot imagine never knowing what happened to family left behind.
Pre-war Poland, 1936, my maternal ancestral home. A rural, small farm holding in southern Poland, a place in time that no longer exists, I believe, or I have no way of knowing. The photograph depicts my Great Grandmother, seated amongst her remaining family. She was 98 at this time. On the left is her daughter Zofia, who remained in Poland whilst the other brothers and sisters went to America. They are surrounded by 3 of Zofia's 6 children. The man standing is a visitor from the US. I hardly know anything about my Great Grandmother, except that she was a midwife and lived to be 100 years old! This map of lost places depicts the abundance that was produced on the family holding, the goods and produce that sustained the family and was sold at market in the nearby town. Barley, buckwheat, eggs, plums, pears, apples, honey were some of the crops. It was a hard life filled with work, but not without it's beauty. I believe it is a lost way of life, gone with the changes in time. In 1939, the Nazi's invaded Poland. In many of the closest towns near this, my ancestral homeland, all of the Jewish population was murdered. My family was Catholic, but I have no way of knowing what became of them. Many Poles were sent to work camps, displaced, or joined the strong resistance movement. What happened to Zofia and her husband and the farm, I hope to discover one day. I do know that mercifully my Great Grandmother did not live to witness the upheaval.
