I swore that I wasn't going to get into Zentangle. But, I did. Never thought about doing an entire layout. What a great idea. Thanks for the inspiration.
I just heard of zentangle today and watched some video after seeing what you did...it is amazing and so beautiful...so now I have another reason to buy more black pens...lol
this is amazing... funny.. i use to somewhat doddle like that when i was a kid but i would colour in the circles with pencil crayons.. i am just posting a LO that has the doodling link that on it - yours is much nicer
Wow, wow, wow..now this is "doodling" of note!! It looks fantastic Susan and so well worht the time it took you to do it. How do you get to spend 3.5 hours on a layout and I have to spend 3.5 days on a layout and sometimes longer...maybe it's because I can never just sit and scrap without being interrupted and by the time I get back to where I was I have lost my train of thought and then have to start at A again...LOL!!
I would have guessed you just cut up a variety of b&w pp's and figured you knew how to arrange it really well. Wow, that is cool that you doodled all that. I haven't doodled in 25 years since my PeeChee in high school. Very clever!
WOWEEEEEEEEEE~~~~ Gosh Susan, this page is amazing....I can't believe you hand doodled all that loveliness!! A dear friend of mine (Tracey) is into that style too, have you seen her stuff?
Well done, this is really quite something. Love the monochromatic scheme and all that Zentangle work is really impressive. This is a fantastic lo. Love it.
Wow Susan!! Very very cool!!!! Your patterns are so creative and I just love the frame around Helen Grace. Of course this is going straight to my favs!!
Well, here's something you don't see every day! Stunning. Just amazing. My daughter and I are doodlers and I think we both need to try this Zentangle stuff.
Love the b/w pic of your granddaughter and the fact that your "waves" sort of follow her form.
This is a photo of my granddaughter, Helen Grace, that was taken last year. I must admit, I am thrilled with the way this layout turned out!! As I was blog hopping over the weekend, I discovered a blog that was talking about "Zentangle". I had no idea what she was talking about, so I did a little research on Zentangle and discovered that basically it's just doodling, but doodling within borders with patterns. So, I thought....I can do this! First I played around with a couple of 3 x 3 squares and a 3" circle to figure out what to do. There's tons of patterns online, some I used here and some I just made up as I went along. This layout was created with just one sheet of white card stock and two black pen (a fine point and a broad point pen). I think what really makes this pop is the dark patches in the doodling. I did this entire layout (all the doodling) in about 3.5 hours. I know that sounds long, but sometimes I spend that long on just a regular layout. I started by drawing a funky frame shape on the paper before I began my doodling. When I was ready to add the photo, I cut it to fit the shape of the frame. Since the photo was a little smaller than my original drawn frame, I had to add some additional doodling around the photo. I know it's different, and I know it's funky...but I'm loving it! Hope you do too! Title letters are BG (small) and foam letters (Attitude).
BTW...I'm NOT an artist...anyone can do this because it's not based on perfection...just doodling! Google Zentangle and you'll be amazed at what you can do!
