This is such a beautiful tribute to your dad & your love for him...your description brought tears to my eyes...and a chuckle, it most be an old man thing that they are sooo independent & stubborn-my father was like that till the end too. Oh Vija, you are definitely too hard on yourself! This is really a beautiful LO! I love the title letters, the bg paper, buttons.. And the set up around the picture is awesome, it really draws your eye to it.
Vija, I'm with Blanche - I LOVE this LO. We are sometimes too critical of ourselves - but believe me when I say that this is a WONDERFUL tribute to your father. It's beautifully designed with crisp clean lines, masculine colors/pps and perfect embellies. I suspect your father wasn't one for flowers and frills - he would have loved this!!! We can all feel the love that you put into this - I am sure he's smiling right now. TFS - even after 3 years, I know this couldn't have been easy for you.
I think it turned out lovely! The tilted red square really draws attention to such a special photo. You should add your sentiment as some hidden journaling. In years to come, others will find it just as heartwarming.
Oh, Vija, what a sad story about your DD. You honoured him beautifully in this lovely LO. Your love shines through. I like the frames and papers you used.
This is my beloved dad & my two sons Christmas Day 1990. My parents seperated when I was seven and all I ever wanted to do was live with my dad again. When his partner passed away about six years ago I tried to get him to come and live with us, but he was fiercely independent and lived alone in his home for the next three years. He wouldn't accept any outside help despite the fact that he was legally blind. He passed away three years ago, aged 87, and I think about him every day. He actually died in my arms twice. The first time in a shopping mall and then, although the ambulance officers did get him breathing again, he never came out of a coma, and he passed away again five days later whilst I was at his beside in hospital. It was his birthday last week and I wanted to make a layout in his honour but I am really disappointed how it turned out. I think I put too much pressure on myself to try & create something 'special'. It wouldn't even photograph properly....IRL I'm pretty sure it is at least straight. I used a die cut sheet of paper and made a template of the inner edge on some baking paper and then used that to trace out the inner shape onto some patterned paper. The chipboard frame I covered with some cardstock and I made the twine button by just gluing some twine onto a punched circle. The die cut tilte is by Scrapfx and I painted it navy blue. TFL.
