Celebration of happiness birthday card

Well before the recent Canada Post strike truly started, there were problems with the mail delivery in this country, including an unusually large number of items going astray (or, at least those in my close circle noted this, I can't say how true it has rung for the rest of Canada). One piece of mail that never reached its destination was this very birthday card, which I made for my sweet Grandma who lives in British Columbia.

Though it was sent out almost three weeks before her birthday (and a few weeks before the strike started), for whatever reason it didn't get to her. I'm not sure how she felt about this, but I thought that it was a bit of an injustice on Canada Post's part, so I created a second pretty much identical card and zipped it off in the mail (with fingers crossed it would arrive!). Luckily it got to her, and while late, it carried the same message of celebratory happiness.

My grandma was a very active crafter (she made the sweetest country chic fabric dolls), knitter and sewer when she was younger, so I wanted to include lots of hand stitching on this page (on the banner and around the border) to honour her creative spirit and the love of making things from scratch that she helped embed in my life when I was little.
