I had this funny idea to photograph stuff I eat and write about it. Here's my breakfast. I wrote the recipe around the border.

Journaling:

I've found my new favorite food! It's an all-natural recipe for granola that I found online. It has rolled oats, almonds, cashews, coconut, brown sugar, raisins, and maple syrup. I eat it every morning for breakfast, and sometimes for lunch, too! I sprinkle (ok, pour) it on a bowl of plain low-fat yogurt.

My golden brown diet comes from an effort to eat foods as close to their natural state as possible. Processed foods are missing many of the important nutrients that I need to be the healthiest person I can be. There is lots of convincing evidence that many common diseases are caused by eating white flour and chemical-laden packaged foods. I am trying to set a good example for my children, so every effort that I make has a three-fold benefit. So even when I am tired and I don't feel like cooking, I force myself to.

Though the ingredients are expensive, I can buy most of them at wholesale prices through our good friends, Corinna and John. John works for a food distributor and can get the oats, almonds, syrup, and raisins for about half the price that we would pay in the store. Thank goodness for that, because I go through two batches a week!
