This is one of my favorite pictures of my brother and me. It was taken in 1982 at Huntington Beach. We were there for a field trip/school’s out party with my mom and some other teachers and students. The idea that we were at the beach after it closed was just really “neat” for us. We had fun adding seaweed to the fire, digging sand castles and playing in the water. My brother and I didn’t have the best of relations growing up; yes, there was sibling rivalry. That is probably an understatment in some situations. However, through all that, we have remained friends as we’ve gotten older and wiser. We’ve visited each other when on opposite sides of the state or continent in one instance, we talk on the phone, e-mail and we’ve even lived together.
We now live on opposite sides of the country and have our own lives and families now. However,
I’d like to think we’ve put all those chilhood fights aside. We may not be the best of friends,
but we do talk and share good times.
