Beavertail is the most picturesque spot within driving distance of our house. The scene reminds us of something we'd see on a Caribbean vacation, but much closer to home. It is about a mile of rocky coastline, with waves crashing against the rocks. We can see Newport in the distance on clear days. The grassy areas behind the bushes provides as great picnic spot, too. We just need to remember to bring the sunscreen and hats, because you can hardly find a square inch of shade in the whole place! Though we moved a little further away from the ocean, it's still worth the 50 minute drive. I could spend all day here and watch the sunset, but we've got little kids to go back to. For now, I'll take the short romantic getaways with my husband.
