I think it turned out beautifully! turquoise is my FAVE color too....love it combined with red too.....your distressing and inking here is fabulous! and i think the photos are a "happy" accident....in that the colors really cause the photos to be the highlight! really beautiful layout....a layout that will be treasured no doubt!
I can tell that you spent a lot of time working on this page and it is beautiful! I like all the misting and inking, it really adds to the page and there is something very natural about it. There was no need to add the other wording.
Turquoise and a picture of the Grand Canyon is a natural combination and you've done a great job with this. I love the addition of the strip of a Navajo inspired pattern on the bottom, nice touch.
You did a great job capturing the look you were after.. did you wet the paper to get the crinkled edges? I've been wanting to try that and just haven't had the right LO to do it with.... Pretty page!
For the July Monochrome Challenge Week 1: Turquoise with twist of silver, and for the Page Maps #30 Week 3. I worked on this one over the weekend at the cabin and fought with it for most of the time! It just wasnt doing what I wanted it to! Turquoise is my absolute favorite color and I specifically like the faded, really natural-looking variations of the stones. So when I saw one of the monochrome colors was turquoise, I knew it had to be a special page. The photo turned out a little paler than the page is since I took it at dusk, but it did bring out all the inking and distressing I did so I guess it's an even trade! :)
These are photos of my dh and I at the Grand Canyon last Fall. Seeing the canyon was such a wonderful experience and really put us in touch with how ancient and yet fragile the earth is. I tried to incorporate elements on the page that were natural or nature-inspired, delicate as well as part of the American Southwest. I wanted to include the word 'Natural' in somewhere to go with the silver 'Beauty' piece, but couldn't get it to fit without ruining the look and feel of the page. Anyway, I think the page speaks for itself... TFL!
