You are so lucky to have your mother's note. This is such a fabulous memory to pass on. I didn't think going to a cemetery was odd at all. My family likes to hike at the nearby forest preserve. At the entrance is a cemetery. the grand-kids love to read the tombstones and listen to the stories of relatives lying there. I love your style. thanks for peeking in my gallery.
Wonderful!!!!!!!!! I do not think this is odd. Year's ago people went to the cemetary quite often to pay their respect and to remember. Love your journaling and the layout is gorgeous.
Fabulous design!!!!!! I so enjoyed reading your journaling!!!! My dh loves to visit cemeteries just out of curiosity. Love the old photo & how you've created the entire scene with your lo!
Awesome design, I love how your layout perfectly captures your mother's story with the cemetery photos, the picnic basket (love that pop of color!) and even the small hills in the grass!!!
Nice journaling! My family and I love to visit cemetaries, particularly old ones, although I can't say we've ever had a picnic at one. But your layout goes along well with your journaing and is very eye-catching.
My mother on right with her sister. I know, I know, this may seem a bit odd...in a cemetery? But you must read the journaling that goes along with this layout! I found some notes my Mother had written, and revised them a bit so they would sound like a child had written them. I wanted to present here a visual picture of those notes. Here is the journaling that is on the opposite page..... "Sunday picnic walks were different from the hikes in the woods. Ma would pack a picnic. We were on our way to Bellevue Cemetery! Why the cemetery?? Ma and her friend Mrs. Czarnik wanted to visit the graves of people they knew. They would chat and cry about his or her demise. They would often take slips of plants to add to their houseplants. Pauline and I kicked off our shoes. We tumbled and twirled on the lush green grass. So soft and cool!! Our yard at home was mostly coarse dirt. With a small border of flowers that Ma grew from seed. We curiously examined gravestone carvings and statues. Trying to decide if we liked "that one" or no "the other one" or none at all! Eventually Ma chose a plot of grass without graves. She spread a blanket and we began our lunch. A piece of bread, some cheese, a hard boiled egg, maybe an apple. Refreshed, we would then begin the long trek home, several miles. Returning late in the afternoon..." The statuary and memorials, and fences depicted here are from photos I took at the actual cemetery.
