Leeat and I flew from Holland via Transavia Airlines and landed at Gatwick Airport in April 1996. We spent our whole months' salary in one weekend, but it was all well worth it! We did a LOT of site-seeing: The Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Petticoat lane, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, met a Beefeater, went to Trafalgar Square, rode in a red double-decker bus, saw the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, went to Harrods to do some all important shopping, ate fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, went to the Hard Rock Café and met up with Ruth, an old school friend of mine, rode on the tube and got tired of hearing the announcement over the intercom of "mind the gap", and last but not least, enjoyed the familiarity of driving on the left-hand side of the road.
