The journaling: To you: Since Anthony and I had to get back to Maryland before Kalle’s seventh birthday, we decided to throw her a very merry un-birthday party. The whole entire day was a celebration of Kalle and what ever she wished to do. So what’s new with that story? We took a trip to Hobby Lobby to pick out a craft and later we selected the perfect ice cream cake from Baskin Robins. Kalle spent the day painting her new doll house while I worked on her Disneyland album. Finally…it was time for cake and presents. I gave her the album I had been working on and I think she enjoyed it but when your seven the only thing you really want is toys. After she spent only a few minutes reading through her album she was ready to open Nana’s present. She ripped through the bag with a big smile on her face and pulled out a brand new outfit. Her smile immediately turned into that frown she makes whenever she doesn’t get what she wants. Oh…great…just what she wanted new…clothes. She was a little disappointed but we reminded her that it was her un-birthday party and that we could still enjoy the ice cream cake. It turned out that we picked a bad Baskin Robin cake. It was so awful tasting that Kalle didn’t even eat it. We talked and laughed all night about her party and Kalle with a serious face replied, “I don’t want to talk about it.” What a funny way to end the day. It was truly a very merry un-birthday party indeed. January 2006
