Wow, fascinating story and wonderful elements make this a great heritage page! Love the ship painting and the "big house", also your distressed background papers and sewing are really nice!
a beautiful and inspiring page! The journalling is sooo important on the heritage layouts. It is wonderful to keep the stories of our ancestors alive for future generations.
Wonderful journaling! I feel like I'm getting to know your ancestors. I love the way you edged or distressed the edge of the journaling block and the mat for the photo block. When I see you again, please teach me how to do that! I really do love it! Great layout!
At 17, my gr. gr. Uncle William worked at the "Penllargere Mansion" in Swansea, Wales(it was once a grand estate) He worked up to 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the servants hall below stairs and usually slept there as well. He earned about $20(by todays standard) a year!! His photo taken in 1907, bottom left, with his son. He made the trip from Liverpool, England to Quebec, Canada aboard "The Sardinian" in 1886. His brothers emigrated the same year. My gr. grandfather James was a construction Engineer, William retired from The Canadian Postal Service, and Frederick was a painter with his own business.
