I took a copic class last night and they told us that it doesn't matter how they are stored, upright or on side, because they are alcohol based it doesn't matter.

Went to a copic class demonstrator indicated that copic markers should be stored laying down - that is a great ideas for gel pens though.....just an fyi as I have many copic markers......
