Finally got a chance to play with the fabulously beautiful September Scraps of Darkness kit 'Pasages'! This kit is sooo elegant and I am SO glad I got it because I was super close to ordering the whole Et Cetera collection by Bo Bunny! I was pleasantly surprised because I also really like the pages from Teresa Collin's 'World Traveler' set too. Come on over to scrapsofdarkness.com and check it out!
This for three challenges; Sept Cricut, Sept Scraplift the Person Before You, and Sept Surprise Chippie challenges.
For Cricut, I used the wonderful Storybook cartridge that I received from the wonderful MrsCDJ (aka Crystal) on the 'Black Cow' title.
The little cow is one of two surprise chippies that I painted with Gesso and acrylic paint and colored with oil pastels, then varnished to give it a glossy finish and seal the color. The other chippie is a horse and I had different plans to use them both together, but that fell through when I couldn't find the photo!
This is also a scraplift of the very talented and very creative TexasMomof4 (Karen)'s LO 'Zilker' here: http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/197287/view/3321735/-1.html
This is a photo from my birthday lunch with the in-laws; dh's mother, step-father and sister. We went to the Black Cow Cafe in the Montrose village a few blocks from our house. I looove that area and we've been to the Cafe many times, but the in-laws had never been. We really enjoyed ourselves - the zucchini bread alone was worth the trip! ;) As I was sitting there, I looked up at all the cow decorations and thought 'DUH! I can take a pic here and use my cow chippie!!' Light bulb moment, for sure!
The bg 'cow' print I mimicked from the restaurant's website and their colors fit so well with the colors in the SOD kit that I decided to finally break it out and play! I hand-drew the cow spots, fussy cut them out and glued them to the black bg ppr then misted with Smooch. Bit messy, but worth it as I'm really happy with the results!
TFL!
