Journaling: In May, we visited Mrs. Hoenstine for Mother’s Day and her birthday. Then we had brunch with the family at Gaylord Palms. As we left, I snapped a picture from behind and realized later that it contained the 6 people I love most in the world -- serendipity. Karen got a Florida State tag for her birthday in June. Later that month, Don and I traveled to Ireland with Alice and Everette. It was a more outdoorsy trip than we had taken before, but I fell in love with the beauty of the countryside. There were calla lilies everywhere, and the shot I got of the signpost was published in the Sentinel as “My Best Shot.”
Everywhere we went in Ireland, we were treated to stunning vistas -- green hills, turquoise seas, and ancient ruins. One of my favorite sights was the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. The stacks of geometric stones were amazing. Don enjoyed touring the Bushmills brewery and the ever-present Guinness, the “blond in a black dress.” In Dublin, we had our rainiest day ever, and I loved photographing the colorful doors of the city. They were painted different colors to facilitate finding the right house after a night at the pub.
