I haven't been around as much lately, family has been keeping me busy and it is taking all my effort to try and scrap and keep up with the galleries. I don't seem to multi task as well as I used to!! These photo's are of the Japanese Gardens at Cowra in NSW. During WW2 a POW camp was set up in the small town of Cowra and housed mainly Italian and Japanese POW's. In August 1944 over 500 Japanese staged a mass breakout resulting in the deaths of 231. After the War, Australian returned soldiers of the RSL sub branch in Cowra began to tend to the graves of their comrades and in 1948 they decided to put the past behind them and also care for the graves of the Japanese soldiers. In 1960 the Japanese Government considered repatriation of their War dead to Japan. However, they were so impressed with the attitude of the RSL and how they cared for the graves that they decided to bring all their War dead from other parts of Australia to be reburied at Cowra. In 1979 these beautiful gardens became a tourist attraction. I have visited here twice, the 1st time being in the early 80's and during spring when the Azaleas and other gorgeous spring plants were in full bloom. This time was in March this year which is early Autumn and although there weren't many plants in flower it was still very beautiful. It was mid week and in the morning so my dh and I were the only people there to enjoy these tranquil gardens. I have use the Kaiser Lush papers and the butterfly was cut from another older Kaiser paper...I mounted a smaller one on top. I made the fan because I just didn't seem to be able to find the right embellishments for this. Thanks so much for taking the time to pop by :)
